Christmas in Seville 2026: Lights, Markets, Nativity Scenes & Tips

A guide talks with two visitors beside a gilded altarpiece and a carved stone arch inside Seville Cathedral

Christmas is one of the most rewarding times of year to visit Seville. The weather is mild, the historic center is lit up, and the city celebrates the season in the streets, with nativity scenes, craft fairs and centuries-old traditions you will not find anywhere else.

This guide brings together the key dates for Christmas in Seville in 2026, from the Christmas lights to the Three Kings parade, plus practical advice from our local guides on how to plan your visit. We will update the dates as soon as the City Council confirms them.

Christmas in Seville 2026 at a glance

  • Christmas lights switch-on: late November (not before 20 November); lights stay on until 6 January 2027.
  • Lighting hours: 18:30 to midnight; until 01:00 on 24 and 31 December and 5 January.
  • Nativity Fair (Feria del Belén): provisionally 8 November to 23 December.
  • Creative Crafts Fair: 5 December 2026 to 5 January 2027.
  • Three Kings: Royal Herald on 4 January 2027 and the Three Kings Parade on 5 January 2027.

When Are the Christmas Lights Switched On in Seville?

Under the city’s lighting contract, the installation must be finished before 15 November and the lights cannot be switched on before 20 November 2026. In recent years the official switch-on has taken place on the last weekend of November, and 2026 is expected to follow the same pattern.

Once the lights are on, they shine every evening from 18:30 to midnight, extended until 01:00 on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and the eve of Epiphany. They stay up until 6 January 2027.

A video-mapping show by the river is also expected again this season, provisionally between 18 December and 4 January, pending official confirmation.

The best route to see the Christmas lights

Start on Avenida de la Constitución, in front of the Cathedral, and continue through Plaza Nueva, Plaza de San Francisco and the shopping streets of Tetuán and Sierpes. It is an easy walk of a little over an hour and combines perfectly with tapas in the center.

Local tip: head out just after sunset, while there is still some color in the sky. It is the best moment to see the Giralda lit up and to take photos.

The Nativity Fair and Nativity Scenes

The Feria del Belén (Nativity Fair) is one of Seville’s best-loved Christmas traditions. Dozens of stalls near the Cathedral sell handmade figurines, clay pieces, moss, cork and everything locals need to build their own nativity scene at home.

In 2026 it is provisionally scheduled from 8 November to 23 December. It is worth a visit even if you do not buy anything: it is a wonderful window into how Seville lives Christmas.

Nativity scenes worth visiting

Throughout December, many churches, brotherhoods (hermandades), convents and cultural institutions display nativity scenes that you can visit for free. If you visit a convent, buy some convent sweets made by the cloistered nuns. They are one of the most authentic souvenirs you can take home from Seville.

Christmas Markets in Seville

Seville does not have a large Central European-style Christmas market, but it does have several charming fairs to explore:

  • Creative Crafts Fair (27th edition): 5 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, usually in Plaza Nueva. Ceramics, jewelry, textiles and handmade design.
  • Local Products Fair: the weekends of 12–13 and 19–20 December. Ideal for olive oil, wine, cheese and sweets from the province.
  • Nativity Fair: until 23 December (provisional dates).

The Three Kings in Seville: Royal Herald and Parade

In Spain, the big day for children is not Christmas but Epiphany. The Royal Herald parades through the center on 4 January 2027 to announce the arrival of the Three Kings, and the Three Kings Parade, organized by the Ateneo de Sevilla, takes place on 5 January 2027. It is one of the oldest and most popular parades of its kind in Spain.

If you are traveling with children, find your spot early: crowds gather along the central streets hours before the floats pass.

What to See in Seville at Christmas, Beyond the Lights

December is a great month to visit Seville’s major monuments in comfortable temperatures: the Cathedral and the Giralda, the Royal Alcázar, Plaza de España and the Triana neighborhood. Days are shorter, so plan indoor visits for the morning and keep the early evening for walking among the lights.

Some monuments close or change their opening hours on 24, 25 and 31 December and on 1 and 6 January, so check official websites before you go. Around the December long weekend and the holidays, book your tickets in advance.
