Seville in December 2026: Weather, Events & What to Do

Plaza de España in Seville on a bright winter day: the canal, its bridges and the semicircular colonnade

December is one of the most underrated months to visit Seville. Summer’s heat is long gone, days are often sunny, the city is decorated for Christmas, and the historic center is far calmer than in spring.

Here is what to expect from Seville in December 2026: the weather, the public holidays that affect opening hours and crowds, the main events and a simple 4-day plan.

Seville in December 2026 at a glance

  • Weather: mild and often sunny days, typically around 16–18 °C (61–64 °F), with cool evenings.
  • Public holidays: Monday 7 December (Constitution Day, moved from Sunday 6), Tuesday 8 December (Immaculate Conception) and Friday 25 December.

Public Holidays in Seville in December 2026

In 2026, Constitution Day (6 December) falls on a Sunday, so Andalusia moves the holiday to Monday 7 December. Together with the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday 8, this creates a four-day long weekend that Spaniards call the puente de diciembre:

DateIn Seville
Saturday 5Weekend
Sunday 6Constitution Day
Monday 7Public holiday in Andalusia
Tuesday 8Immaculate Conception
Friday 25Christmas Day

Many Spaniards travel during this long weekend, so Seville is particularly busy from 5 to 8 December. If you are flexible, the following week is calmer, with the Christmas atmosphere already in full swing.

The Immaculate Conception: Seville’s December Traditions

Seville has a very special devotion to the Immaculate Conception, and December is the perfect time to experience two uniquely Sevillian traditions:

  • Student serenades: on the night of 7 December, university tunas (traditional student music groups) sing to the Immaculate Conception at the monument in Plaza del Triunfo, next to the Cathedral. It is free and very popular.
  • The dance of the Seises: during the Octave of the Immaculate Conception, from 8 December, the Seises, a group of boys in historic costume, dance before the high altar of the Cathedral, a centuries-old tradition found only in Seville.

Cathedral visiting hours change on religious feast days, so check the official website before planning your visit.
